Built on a ridge above Auckland this well-known apartment building has stunning views of Auckland City and the Waitemata Harbour, as well as nine-storeys of SPEEDFLOOR® Suspended Concrete Flooring.
The restricted access to this 1200 square metre footprint, nine-storey apartment building off Khyber Pass in Auckland meant Clearwater Construction needed to carefully choose the method of construction and the products to be used. They chose SPEEDFLOOR® for the no propping and the lightweight nature of the joists, meaning cranage could be kept to a minimum and the following trades could begin work on the floor directly under the level being constructed.
With two levels of basement parking, concrete inter-tenancy walls and SPEEDFLOOR® Suspended Concrete Flooring spanning wall to wall, there were no other structural elements required. No propping during construction allowed levels to be added quickly and services to be installed as the building took shape.
“The advantages SPEEDFLOOR® gave us in terms of program allowed us to meet the customer’s tight construction period in what was a fairly complex building on a very challenging site.” said Wayne Carson, General Manager of Clearwater Construction.
